Volunteering
Volunteering
Volunteers play a critical role in our organization. We have many different types of volunteer opportunities. Because much of our volunteer work is flexible, we can create a volunteer option that fits you or your group.
To explore working with us, please contact our volunteer coordinator, Tina Marie Chapin, at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or 373-0264.
Adopt a room or an apartment
Volunteer groups help us clean, prepare, or furnish rooms and apartments in our Residence Community for Working People and in our two shelters.
You can commit to as much as your group feels it can do. You can dedicate a Saturday morning, a weekend, or several weekends. The project can be a one-time adoption or it can be ongoing, as you choose. You could request a unit that needs a lot of work or you could request one that simply needs cleaning or painting.
Provide a meal for our monthly Fellowship Dinner
Every third Sunday evening we have a Fellowship Dinner. Volunteer groups are needed to prepare dinner for this group of about 40 people. We’d love to have you join us at dinner. We like the dinner to feel like a special occasion. Our residents love to take home leftovers from the meal. We do the set up and clean up.
Other Volunteer Options
Organize a fundraiser – a church youth group event, a church dinner where you accept donations or pass the hat, a house party with your friends and neighbors.
Help with new media – help us use email, Facebook, Twitter, and our website more effectively.
Assist with home repairs – use your skills in the trades to help with plumbing, furnace, electrical, and general home repair. You could decide to donate one day a year, or one two-hour job per month, or whatever works for you.
Solicit items for our annual silent auction – solicit donations from the artists in your life or from local businesses for our fall Celebration and silent auction.
Pick up donated furniture and other items – use your truck to pick up furniture once a year, once a quarter, or on an “as available” basis.
Professional services – Licensed therapists willing to donate 1 – 6 sessions; doctors and dentists willing to assess and advise our residents.
Hair stylists – donate a haircut to help one of our residents look his or her best for job searching.
OR, Meet with us to develop a form of service that fits you or your group!
